Hernia

Best Hernia Specialist in Hyderabad

Hernia is defined as protrusion of abdominal contents through a defect in the muscles of the abdominal wall.

Abdomen should be viewed as a Cylinder with Diaphragm as the roof, pelvis floor muscles as the floor, vertebral column and its supporting muscles as the back, and muscles in the front and sides.

Defects in the roof cause Diaphragmatic hernia/ eventeration. Widening of the Hiatus through which the esophagus comes causes a Hiatus hernia.

Pelvic floor defects in the males cause a Rectal Prolapse, and in females causes a uterine or rectal prolapse with consequences

Defects in the lateral and front muscles cause different hernias –

  •   Umbilical and epigastric hernia
  •   Inguinal and femoral hernia
  •   Incisional hernia
  •   Lumbar hernia
  • Spigelean hernia, Parastomal hernia and other uncommon hernias

Almost all of the hernias are operated Laparoscoically or Robotically. Large complex hernias require open surgery

After doing more than 1200 Hiatal hernia repairs by open, Lap,or Robotic I have had excellent results with recurrence rates of less than 0.1%. I have done a few Diaphragmatic hernia ,congenital and adult –open, lap with good outcomes. Eventeration of Diaphragm was done by Lap and now Robotically with good results

Many cases of Rectal Prolapse-98- underwent a Lap Mesh repair without any complications. In women with pelvic organ prolapse suspension operations – Sacrocolpopexy+ Rectopexy were done Laparoscopically or Robotically.

After doing thousands of Lap repairs for Inguinal hernia over 30yrs, I have found Robotic surgery scores over it due to the 3D vision with clear demonstration of anatomy and a proper pain free repair. Similarly in Ventral hernias also after more than 3000 lap repairs, Robotic platform gives far superior results due to the clear vision and articulation of instruments,
