With over four decades of surgical experience, Dr. D V Ramakrishna is one of Hyderabad’s most trusted names in surgical gastroenterology and a driving force behind the robotic surgery program at KIMS Hospitals, Kondapur. He has performed more than 6,000 basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures and over 12,000 open abdominal surgeries, and in recent years has expanded his practice into robotic assisted surgery, bringing the same precision and patient-first philosophy that has defined his career.

As Chairman of Robotic Surgery at KIMS Hospitals, Kondapur, Dr. Ramakrishna has led the expansion of the hospital’s robotic surgery program. Under his leadership, the program has delivered measurable outcomes — fewer conversions, shorter hospital stays, reduced blood loss, and higher patient satisfaction — while staying true to KIMS’ commitment to affordable, high-quality care.
His career includes successful management of Boerhaave syndrome, esophagectomy with coloplasty in a pediatric patient, laparoscopic repair of Spigelian hernia, and laparoscopic right hepatectomy — alongside a growing body of robotic hernia and foregut surgeries.
Honored by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for his contribution to the Arogyasri healthcare scheme, and recognized by the Indian Medical Association, Kakinada, for services to healthcare. He is a regular speaker at academic and surgical forums, including an upcoming session at EAIF 2026 in Nairobi.
